Fairfax Comic-Con 2023

Last weekend, I joined Zax to check-out Fairfax Comic Con and was thrilled to see how large the event has grown over the years! We joined a line wrapped around the convention center, but thankfully were lucky to get to wait in the shade. Once inside, I was pleasantly surprised by how many independent authors and artisans were tabling.

Zax and Nellyroll - all smiles with one of several toys the kids brought home.

While Zax and Nellyroll wandered the circuit talking with old friends and meeting new local artists, I meandered the aisles trying to simultaneously keep an eye on four kids and look for my next set of books to read. Jumping from handmade stuffed animals and keychains to flipping through Pokemon cards, the kids kept me on my toes. However, in exchange for a round of slushies the kids were more than happy to indulge me while I talked with authors and find some new series to kick off the fall.

Didn't realize how much I missed attending cons over these last few years; I always have a great time and I leave with a stack of books I can't wait to read!

Fusible Comics stand where good time was spent combing lots of comic bins and the first book I'm tackling from the con, Ahmentree's Magic by Andrea Rose Washington.
